Ilona johnson is a mixed media fine artist based at her studio in West Suffolk. Initially trained at Hornsey & then Maidestone\u00a0College of Art in\u00a0 ….\u00a0she was accepted into the Royal College to study environmental\u00a0media. She uses a variety of media including printmaking, painting, drawing & collage using found objects.\u00a0Much of her recent work focuses on place & landscape, in particular the way light &\u00a0shape\u00a0inform its character. She is also interested in the effect humans have on place, the detritus they leave in it\u00a0& the human ability to find meaning in the abject.\u00a0Throughout her career she has always been interested in the different ways she can represent form through various technical disciplines, with her subjects ranging from landscapes to still lives & portraits.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Notable galleries that have shown her work include: The Royal Academy (London), The Mall Gallery (London), Walthamstow Museum (London), Gainsborough’s House (Suffolk) & The Minories (Colchester, Essex). She has also received prizes from The Reed Gallery (London) & from Walthamstow Museum (London).
